Born in New Caledonia, Dr. Valérie Morignat is the CEO of Intelligent Story in San Francisco and Associate Professor of AI Strategy and Ethical AI Design at aivancity.
Based in San Francisco, she delivers consulting and executive education services globally on emerging technology design, AI strategy and AI ethics. She holds a Ph.D. (Summa Cum Laude) from the Sorbonne University, two certifications from MIT in AI Strategy and Machine Learning, and is certified by IDF in VR/AR design.

Before embrassing entrepreneurship, Dr. Morignat worked as a Tenured Associate Professor of Cinema and Interactive Arts at the University of Montpellier (Maître de Conférences titulaire). She taught courses on "Post-Digital Cinema Aesthetics", "Interactive Media Semiotics", "Transmedia Storytelling", "Philosophy of Virtual Worlds", "Sociology of Hypermedia", "Archeology of the Future", "Cyberculture Arts", and more).

An advisor to world-renowned organizations on the development of AI ethical governance and responsible design, she has developed over 40 public policy measures, designed three government programs on inclusive digital economy and creative industry development, and engineered a graduate school for digital media arts in the southwest Pacific Ocean.

In San Francisco, she led design departments and engineering teams in technology firms and healthcare marketing agencies. She successfully led and launched complex large scale digital products for 20+ Fortune 100 clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech industries.

Dr. Morignat is an AI Ethics advisor to IEEE (USA), Springer Nature (Founding Editorial Board Member of the Springer Journal of AI & Ethics, UK), Women in AI (USA), Women in Big Data, and an Ambassador to the World AI Summit.

A multi-awarded underwater photographer and designer, Valerie's interactive video and photography work has been exhibited globally in museums and art galleries.

Dr. Valerie Morignat holds a Ph.D. in Arts and Art Sciences (awarded Summa Cum Laude), a Masters of Research (awarded Summa Cum Laude) and a Masters of Fine Arts (awarded Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Paris I, Pantheon-Sorbonne. She was awarded two Merit Doctoral Fellowships by the Sorbonne University of Paris 1 and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for her research achievements.


She holds the French civil and academic rank of "Maître de Conférences" (Tenured Associate Professor) since 2003 after being hired and confirmed in her tenure by the University of Montpellier III (FR) and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. She holds the title of "Agrégée des Universités" after winning France's most competitive national teaching contest "Agrégation Externe".


She has two executive certifications from MIT Sloan School of Management and MIT CSAIL in "Artificial intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy", and from MIT in "Machine Learning: From Data to Decisions". She is also certified in "Design for Virtual and Augmented Reality" with the Interactive Design Foundation. She is a Level 3 Rescue Diver certified by CEDIP and ANMP International.

I have been extremely fortunate to experience Dr. Valerie's thought-provoking keynotes on a few occasions.
